Biography

Former Chelsea cup winner Dave Webb had managed Bournemouth and Torquay before joining the Blues, but without any real success. However he managed to stop the slide that Moore had caused and finished his first season in a creditable 9th place. Dave had a definite ability to find a free scoring forward and in Richard Cadette he had someone who scored 56 goals in two seasons.

Webb's second season also went well and promotion looked a real possibility in March when he had a bitter row with Vic Jobson over money for new signings and walked out leaving Paul Clark to pick up the pieces.
