Taking over just after the Shrimpers' relegation to Division Two, he contrived to lead them to another relegation and to six points off relegation to the Conference before he resigned (announced to a clearly jubilant crowd after his last defeat). In that two-year spell he signed 37 and used 52 players. And where did he go? He became an 'expert' summariser on TalkSPORT, of course
